Black Dragon Portable Mini IEM V1 Cable
The Black Dragon Portable Mini IEM V1 Cable is used for linking your portable audio devices when flexibility and a smaller footprint are required. The Black Dragon is made with copper conductors that lend a warm, musical sound to your music, with added bottom-end weight and a top end that is smooth but still detailed. Appropriate for most genres, the Black Dragon works especially well with Electronica, Dance, Pop, Rap, R&B, and other music where a big, bold presentation is desired.
For setups that do not require a more flexible cable, see the Silver Dragon Portable Mini Cable V3, the Blue Dragon Portable Mini Cable V3, or the Black Dragon Portable Mini Cable V2. These cables are more robust and are for connecting the highest-end portable gear, as well as connecting portable gear to home audio systems. Black Dragon Cable Design
The Black Dragon Portable Mini IEM Cable features a coaxial design utilizing a 99.99998% UP-OCC Stranded Silver 26AWG center conductor for the positive leg. The center conductor is wrapped concentrically by a 99.99998% UP-OCC pure copper stranded 26AWG gauge conductor with 7N purity 99.99998%, and it features Kevlar reinforcing. The left and right signal cables run parallel to each other, resulting in a very low inductance. Both signal jackets are polyethylene, and the cable is extremely flexible yet very resilient and resistant to flex failure.
This cable can be used with a variety of different connectors, both balanced and unbalanced, such as a 3.5mm TRS Mini plug, 2.5mm TRRS Balanced Plug, or 4.4mm TRRRS Balanced Plug. As always, we custom-build this cable in-house using high-quality Cardas silver solder.
What is UP-OCC?
UP-OCC stands for Ultra Pure Ohno Continuous Casting (OCC). This is not a material but a way of extruding silver and copper to prevent any impurities and fractures in the crystalline structure of the wire. The wire is drawn very slowly to cast as an almost perfect single-crystal small-diameter conductor. The resulting purity and the size of the cast wire make a tremendous difference, and there is less damage to the near-perfect cast state. We find this UP-OCC process produces a very clean and close to neutral sound in our copper-based and silver-based cables.
